Is pumping of septic tanks necessary?
Category: Septic Tank Pumping Post By: Paul Simpson (Sacramento, CA), 01/03/2017

Yes, indeed. Periodic pumping keeps a septic tank system running at its peak efficiency. If you don’t have garbage disposer in the house, you should go for a flushing after every three to five years. In case you have one, once-in-a-year pumping is required. Many people neglect pumping, if they are not encountering problem in their septic tank. But this is alarming. Properly designed tank has enough space for accumulation of sludge for up to five years. When the sludge level increases the solid wastes do not get enough time to settle properly before leaving the tank. Consequently, they escape into the soil absorption system (SAS). The SAS gets clogged. It cannot absorb liquid at the rate at which it enters the tank. This can cause a back-up problem.
