What is the difference between a septic tank and a Sewage Treatment Plant?

Septic tank is a cheaper option compared to sewage treatment plant when it comes to disposing waste from the house. The septic tank is built underground in the backyard of the house. The wastewater along with solid waste is disposed into it where it decomposed by bacteria that grows in wastewater. The wastewater from the septic tank is disposed into the soil through the drainfield. The wastewater plant needs electricity supply to aerate the wastewater. But the final effluent of a sewage treatment plant is of better quality than septic tank; the latter needs a further treatment in a soakaway.
